Conrad Roberts
Founder, President, and Executive Director
Born and raised in Richmond, California, I grew up with a passion for sports and a drive to excel in everything I pursued. From a young age, I was drawn to the thrill of competition and the discipline required to succeed in athletics. I participated in a variety of sports, including track and field, soccer, muay thai, swimming, and basketball, honing my skills and pushing myself to new heights with each challenge.
Throughout my high school years, I dedicated myself to training and competing in various sports and earning accolades for my athletic achievements. Whether on the track, the field, or in the ring, I embraced the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship, which shaped my character and instilled in me a deep respect for the power of hard work and determination.
After graduating from high school, I decided to further my education at Arizona State University, where I pursued a degree in interdisciplinary studies, such as sociology and communication. During my time at ASU, I continued to stay active in sports, balancing my academic studies with my passion for athletics. I found my background in sports provided me with valuable skills such as leadership, time management, and resilience that complemented my academic pursuits.
After graduating from Arizona State University, I embarked on a career dedicated to serving my community in West Contra Costa County, California. Drawing on my background in sociology and communication, as well as my passion for making a positive impact, I sought opportunities to work with nonprofits focused on mental health and family services in the region.
I began my professional journey by joining various nonprofits in West Contra Costa County, where I dedicated myself to supporting children and families in need. Specializing in the mental health field, I worked closely with individuals facing challenges and provided them with the necessary care and resources to thrive. Utilizing the National Wraparound Initiative, I implemented holistic and personalized approaches to help children and families overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.
Through my work in the mental health field, I witnessed firsthand the importance of empathy, understanding, and community support in promoting wellness and resilience. I collaborated with diverse teams of professionals, caregivers, and community members to create a network of care that addressed the unique needs of each individual and family. As an advocate for inclusivity, empowerment, and compassionate care, I strove to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I served.
It was during this time my passion for supporting others and fostering positive change intersected with my love for art and creativity. The experiences and insights gained from working in the mental health field inspired me to create “Paint Your Canvas,” a nonprofit organization that aims to empower individuals through art education and creative expression. Building on my background in community engagement and social services, I envisioned “Paint Your Canvas” as a platform to bring joy, healing, and self-discovery to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
By combining my expertise in mental health services with my commitment to arts-based interventions, I strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space where individuals can explore their creativity, build resilience, and connect with others through the transformative power of art. Through “Paint Your Canvas,” I continue to fulfill my mission of making a positive impact on the world by fostering self-expression, empowerment, and community through artistic exploration.
Through “Paint Your Canvas,” I aim to empower individuals to unleash their creativity, build confidence, and develop important life skills through the transformative power of art. Blending my love for sports with my commitment to social change through art, I strive to create a more inclusive and vibrant world where everyone has the opportunity to discover the joy of self-expression and artistic exploration.
